She grew up in a small school at the edge of the oceanic shelf, exploring shipwrecks of various kinds and cave systems (her most thrilling adventure being exploring the Mariana Trench and you can't pay her to go back (she claims to have seen a gigantic white shark lurking down by the thermal vents). She met her future mate at a shipwreck and the two were inseparable since (he having been the one to gift her the lyre). Before the oil-spill, her mate had been talking of moving to the Bermuda Triangle with the promise of a safer location to raise their young, as humans had begun to intrude into the abyssal territory. One evening, Noir had been exploring a new wreck site when she witnessed a sinking purple mass- a mer in trouble (Saroé). She took care of the mer, witnessing the trauma Saroé had been through by refusal to talk. With patience, she was able to learn of the Mer's name and what had happened to the youth. She was about to offer Saroé to come with her and her mate to the Triangle when her mate, having promised to come to the new site later, swam up at break-neck speeds. He was covered in patches of thick oil, telling the two they had to leave immediately due to an accident at the human drilling site. What he had not told Noir, was how he had been in the epicenter. Noir begged her mate to look after Saroé while she returned to their cave to retrieve items they would need, thinking the oil would not have spread as quickly, but it had. Once returning to the two, the trio set out to ride the currents and head to the Bermuda Triangle. Sadly during the long trip, her mate passed from complications of the pollution and was buried on the Hawaiian islands. Promising to make it to the Triangle with Saroé, the two having grown very close in a sibling-like relationship, Noir took charge to lead the way to safety.

Noir is by no means a fan of humans, due to the loss of her mate. However, she has never directly interacted with them and has little experience but for the destruction of her home and life. She tends to avoid talking about them.
R E L A T I O N S H I P S Father - a deep-sea abyssal Mer from the Atlantic Shelf (nationality being French) who moved to the warmer waters of the Oceanic Shelf. Mother - a Koran Angelfish who migrated to deeper waters with her husband. Arges - Noir's previous mate who died during migration to the Triangle. Noir misses him dearly. Saroé - pretty much an adopted little brother and her closest companion. She hopes one day Saroé will begin to talk and open A D D I T I O N A L I N F O R M A T I O N Her stripes and eyes glow through bio-luminescence. She uses the eyelets on her tail to intimidate predators. Doesn't wear any sort of cover-up for her chest, not caring //grew up to mermaids without shell bras// Suffers from pollution contamination, having oil in her lungs. This makes her easily sluggish and tired if she pushes too much. She isn't used to those who talk a lot (her late mate and Saroé) and spent much of her life alone.
